We in the US are seriously overweight in
general. I live in the best state in the nation
for weight status -- and it's only best because
it is maintaining its rate of EXTREMELY OBESE
people rather than increasing. That's not a
really happy way to be best, and the picture it
paints for other states is, well, kinda scary.
(dress one of them puppies up in a big, bad
Pikachu costume and you've got instant culture,
let me tell ya.)
And as for anime fans, what do we spend a WHOLE
lot of time doing? Sitting on our ample
derrieres, watching anime.
Not only that, but lots of us who are
also "geeks" of one sort or another have
extremely sedentary jobs. The entirety doesn't
really lend itself to svelteness.
Consider that the AVERAGE American woman wears a
size 14 or greater dress. Which is
labelled "plus size" in most stores.
By the way, it's hysterically funny to be reading
this thread while multiple ads for weight-loss
programs display immediately to the left.
