Thinking about getting stung with a fake cel, this question
came to mind.
In production cels, at least most I have seen, there is a
tiny area on the outside of each trace line that is a
slightly lighter color than the color that fills in that
area. Does anyone know what I mean or know what produces this?
Maybe the paint receeds from the trace line a little?
It seems to me that whatever that is can't be duplicated,
but I don't know.
It's true that you have to learn all you can, but
I suspect that most people, no matter how educated they
become on their favorite characters, scenes, etc. will
STILL get extremely excited when they see a cel they want
go up for sale on a website!
Putting a tape in the vcr and searching for the scene to
compare would take too much time, while someone else is
snatching up YOUR cel!
Hopefully, anyone that creates non-production cels, fan art
or otherwise, will take pains to mark their work as what
it is.
P.S. I agree with all your points.
Liz
