Re: Mangaya Auction Question (Mon Apr 19 04:17:54 1999 )

Having looked at the agreement, I am confused. Are you supposed
to put the top amount you are willing to pay (in the event
of an auction) right on the order form? In that case, all I
have to say is that one would have to have an enormous amount
of trust and faith in the seller.

If, for example, you have a cel you want that is $100. You are
asked to put a top bid in on the cel on the order form. So,
you desperately want the cel and put a top bid in of $500.
Do you think that a seller that is interested in getting the
top dollar like this would have a hard time staying honest?
Would it not be possible that temptation could cause them
to take your bid, regardless of the correct amount of other
buyers?

I would think that the main problem here is trusting that
the seller would never take advantage of your desperate need
to get a certain cel. Unless all the other buyers are identified
(which sounds like a bad idea) then I think that even if you
"won" the cel you could come away with very bad feelings and
perhaps never know for sure that they deal was above board.
Not that Mangaya would do that, but how would you know?
