I agree that many other dealers created a 13000
pages website on animation. That they are hosting
for _free_ more than 60 animation related website
and a bunch of mailing-lists.
That they contribute to internet by giving for
_free_ softwares ? Among others, I am the author
of the Apache webserver communication module.
Currently, Animanga is costing more than US $720
per month just in network connection. I can
tell you that the "cels" part could be hosted for
less than $50 quite easly. All the rest is to
help people that can't pay for their site and
to contribute to the anime/manga community.

I created this forum and the cel webring (not
only managed it : wrote every single line of
software). But do you realize that for a long
time many dealers didn't wanted to join it
because they feared that some of their customers
would discover other sites ? I never feared
that myself and I am the one doing the most
publicity to other dealers : with 4 millions
hits per month, Animanga is largely the biggest
source of publicity on the ring. I never
minded/feared that people visiting my site would
go to other dealers site through the ring.

So "you're a middle man like any other dealer".
Am I ? Ever heard of the GNU fundation ? Of
the Apache Group ? I was of those who took
part, each in their own small way, to create
internet. We did it for ourself but mostly for
others. Never in a goal to gain something from
it. I, and many others, are sad to see the practice
of some people, how they abuse it. People who
think that because they pay 20 dollars to a
provider, everything is owned to them and they
can do whaterver they please and break every rules !

Can you or Jack say that much ? What did you
do for others ? What's your contribution ?
