high pricing... (Sun Dec 6 05:32:58 1998 )

Ed's FY prices are not that unreasonable. Just look around
for anything this nice and then see the price. They are
roughly the same ($200 and up)
And as far as I know, there are no open-eyed Chichiri shots
available for sale.

High priced cels exist and if we start complaining about it
all the time, some things can happen: People can stop offering
the high end/rare cels to us on net, and/or they can lower prices.
But what is the point of lowering the prices to the point where it
is like handing them over without any commission at all/barely
any profit??
Why not just keep the cel/never buy it at all?
Then we'd never see the things for sale at all, would we?

Some sellers don't need money as much as others, they can sell
for less. And don't forget that some dealers have
better/cheaper connections than others. There are many
reasons why a cel is priced highly, and not all of them
point to greed.

To take an example I am sure alot of people have experience with,
how many of us spent over $100 on cels last year which were only
really worth about 4000 yen? And now, with the proliferation
of Japanese websites selling at lower prices, what are we
supposed to do when we need to sell that item? Sell for a loss?
Better to stick it on Ebay where we can hope that the 'bidding
war' will get us back some of the money, or to try vainly to
sell at the price we paid for on our own pages.
As you can probably tell, I have nothing against auctions for
precisely that reason. I'm not a saint, I am not willingly
going to lose money :)!

As I said earlier, there are sometimes many reasons for high prices....
sorry if it became a rant, its just been annoying reading about
it constantly.

In the end, if something is too high it just won't sell.
So the price can either be lowered or it will sit there,
we don't need to complain at all.
