Cels Forum

Hello!  Before I spout my frustration and annoyance, I just
want to make for the record that (and maybe it will sound
as a slight defense on my part) most of the cel community
knows who I am and the people who do know me, know that I
am a fair dealer, great collector, always honest, I never
say stuff about people behind their backs or actually hardly
ever complain - unless for extremely valid reasons (i.e. "I
can't believe they're selling that cel for this much
money, etc!").  I am also not ignorant of how dealers work
and that everyone has had a bad sell or a bad deal in their
life as a cel collector/dealer.

This one - I think goes a bit above and beyond. And yes,
I've been at this for almost 3 years now so I'm definitely
not a newbie....  And I feel it necessary to share.
I don't want people to feel that they have to come to his
defense and start telling me that they've never had any
problems with him, etc.  I haven't either and I believe
that he is a fair dealer - most of the time and he has
some amazing cels.  This is just one instance that I think
people should just be aware of to avoid in the future.
I have been debating as to whether or not I should say
anything...and people could come back at me and say, I'm just
too trusting a soul and that it's all cutthroat and serves
me right, yada yada.  BUT...

Everyone has a cel dealer(s) that they can consider a
friend or that they talk to on a somewhat regular basis
if just to say "hi."  I have many that I not only talk about
cels but about my life or their life. And most everyone
has had a dealer say, "I have a cel for you.."  or "I found
a cel for you.." "Do you want it?" at sometime or
another in their cel travels.

Well, somehow (I don't remember who started it) but I
happen to strike a conversation with Naoki-san from
Hobby Shop K.  We would talk sometimes in Basic Japanese
or Broken English.  Just about how's Tokyo - what are the
cool places to visit - how's LA - are you coming to AX -
Sailor Moon Musical - and this has just been going on
for 6 months or so.  I have bought from him a couple of
times and he always uploads amazing cels as everyone knows.

Now, I know that someone else writes his emails - his sister?
but that he gets the gist of what is being written.  We have
never had a problem in translation or communication and it 
has never been an issue.

Within the past month or two, he mentioned that he went
to Tokyo and found a cel and described it to me.  I then
asked if I could see the image.  And he attached the image.
Then, I asked what would he think about selling me the 
cel before it went public.  All of the dealers (who read
this forum) will know that I HARDLY EVER ask this because
I don't think it's fair to everyone else - Everyone should
have fair chance at a cel, you know?
