Oh yes! I love to be able to look very closely at every
little detail that you can't see on the screen - even with
a very good lazer disc copy of whatever anime the
particular cel is from. I'm very into art of all kinds, and
animation art isn't easy to find for viewing. Museums
usually don't carry it and any kind of sizable cel
galleries (at least in this area) are usually open by
appointment only. They don't want people who are "just
looking" they only want buyers. >_<

And yes, cels are an incredible way to display an image of
a favorite character. Even the cheapest of cels is
INCOMPARABLY more interesting than the stock photos slapped
together for most posters.

But another reason I like to collect cels is because I love
to show people things they either haven't seen before or
don't see very often, no matter if it's something expensive
like a cel or relatively inexpensive like coins minted for
occupied countries during WWII or something completely free
like a piece of origami. It's not a case of "nya-nya, look
what I have and you don't", it's that I enjoy seeing the
wonder on people's faces and hearing the: "Is this REALLY a
REAL cel? Neat!! And can I REALLY hold it, you don't mind?
Awesome!" Seeing the things inevitably leads to the person
asking questions about them and I love to see people learn
something fun when they come to visit me. ^_^

Many Sharp Smiles,
