You think THAT'S crazy...
A while back I wanted to collect X-men cels (hey, I fell
in love with the characters long before the animated
series was around... the art for the animation wasn't too
hot, but it was still my fav. characters =) so I asked
around with some galleries. Only one (I wish I could
remember which one) was able to find them - their prices
for larger, centered images with COPY backgrounds were
around $500-$600 per cel... cels with the original
backgrounds were $900 and up depending on character. They
had also a Wolverine cel (with background) signed by Stan
Lee for $1800 . I'm afraid I was rather shocked and had
to tell them "nononononono...." =) I mean, cels of
the same quality go on eBay (often with original
backgrounds) often for less than $100... maybe I'm just
spoiled...=)
