The reason I have a gallery is because I enjoy
looking at other people's galleries. Maybe it's
copying as a sincere form of flattery? ^_^; I
also enjoy the challenge of coming up with
something unique, though I'm not doing especially
well with it (note the disorganized misc section
of doom... though there is a image lite by series
section). I realize that not all people like to
look at cels that are 'already sold' but I like
to look at most cels and so I hope my gallery
provides the same entertainment for other people.

I also like to advertise series in my gallery.
When I first started some of those sections, a lot
of people hadn't seen Utena or Hameln, and while
I doubt it had much of an effect, if it got one
person to see those great shows, I think I would
be happy. I actually get a lot of email from
Key the Metal Idol fans glad that there's more
stuff out there!

Perhaps I don't see as much of the 'con' side as
I don't get many request emails as other people
seem to get. I don't even have a "none of these
cels are for sale!" sign. I just treat my
gallery as if it were an art gallery, you wouldn't
ask an art gallery to sell paintings would you?
Perhaps it's because my cels aren't as desirable
or perhaps it's just because I don't get annoyed
too much by them. It's not too hard to write a
simple response declining the offer and directing
the requester to my wishlist. Out of politeness,
I've tried to answer all of the emails (minus a
few that were downright rude or accusatory and
perhaps one or two that got lost during one of my
very busy spells (I apologize for all of those)).
I've had a few good trades and deals from people
emailing me or looking at my wishlist!

I do feel a bit embarassed when I don't update my
site in a long time, but I feel embarassed about
all my sites that way. Other people prefer to
update in fewer chunks. Other people are just
really good at updating. So, it's really how you
personally feel about this possible "con."

I'll be sure to visit your gallery if you create
one! ^_^
