The unappreciative one

I think Yann has really hit the nail on the head
here and in the Usagi's House thread above.

When I read Heather's reaction to the discussion
of the price of the Kenshin cel, I was really
appaulled. She may be a nice person and an honest
dealer, but she was entirely out of line to take
those collectors generalized comments so
personally. It could have been *any* dealer's
cel. Has anyone gone back to read the comments
that were made:

"Cel prices sure have gone up lately..."--Karen

"Too bad, it's way too expensively priced for
*me*..."--mak

How are these comment's in any way questioning
Heather's integrity? No where do I see "Boy,
Usagi's House is really taking us poor cel
collectors to the cleaners! I hope she sleeps
well at night with the thought of taking
advantage of our addictive personalities!"

But, you know something? If they were to say
those things, as Yann said so eloquently, "So
what?" This is a free market, where there should
be a free exchange of goods and ideas. Are we as
consumers to keep quiet just because we know that
the seller is a nice person?

One other thought. I chuckle when I hear about
the "sacrifices" that the cel dealers make to
bring cels to the locationally challenged masses.
There is no doubt that without dealers, many of
us would not be able to pursue this wonderful
hobby. But the bottom line is that they're
running a *business* and not a charity. No one is
forcing Usagi's House or any other dealer to go
Japan and buy cels for resale. And if the cel
market is getting really *that* bad in Japan,
maybe it's time to make a living at something
else?

Signed,
