Oh, I know exactly what you mean.
What really kills me is that recently on Yahoo 
Japan auctions I have lost out on /several/ sets 
that had cels I really wanted in them. Usually, it 
was a cel of Tenchi or  Ryoohki that I really 
wanted, but it was paired with something like a 
naked Ryoko (which I didn't want)and ended up 
going for some astronomical sum of money. 
I wish there were some way to contact the winner 
and say, "Look, I hate to be a bother, but if you 
don't want those Tenchi cels, I would really love 
to buy them from you." But of course, there is no 
way to do that, and certainly no way to be polite 
while doing it. *sigh*
Also, if you DO bite the bullet and bid up in the 
stratosphere with the rest of the bidders, it 
means that if you win, you pretty much HAVE to put 
it on eBay to have a chance of recouping some of 
your expense. Otherwise you have to put a 
staggering price on it on your own webpage, and 
they will sit there forever without someone buying 
it. Also... does anyone else feel weird asking 
more than you KNOW a cel is worth, just because 
that is what you paid for it? I'm always torn 
between wanting to recoup my costs and knowing 
that I paid too much in the first place.
