Nothing wrong with that! (Thu Nov 16 07:08:25 2000 )

There is absolutely nothing wrong with what you
are talking about! It DOES bug me to think (and I
don't KNOW this I just THINK so dont flame me
please!) that people buy cels from sellers that do
not ship internationally, get them shippied to a
freind in Japan, then get them shipped here to
sell. This is not fair because it is deliberately
hiking up the price for people who don't have
friends who will do that, and is basically abusing
friends for profit as well. I have a VERY good
friend in Japan who would not mind being the
"middle man" in a personal transaction for me at
all, but I would never think of using my friend to
help me make a profit and rip off American cel
collectors. Of course deputy services are
different, as the collector knows exactly what he
or she is getting into before hand.

But there's nothing wrong with selling cels that
are in your collection that you don't want,
whether they were part of a big lot of cels or
just something you don't feel the need to keep
after awhile. It's better to pass it on to
someone who can love it more, and in those cases,
the seller and the market are solely responsible
for setting the selling price. If I sell my $2
Ranma cel for $30 on eBay tomorrow, you can't say
it's inethical because it's MY CEL. If you think
that's too high, then don't bid... simple. (I'm
not doing that, I love that cel but its just an
example!)

A lot of collectors I know are too rich for their
own good... unfortunately this seems to be a
hobby that attracts the wealthy, and maybe that
will make the prices go higher because $300 or
$400 or $800 for a cel doesn't affect some
people's ability to pay the rent... that sucks for
us poor people! BUT you can't say it's
inethical... the prices of cels are really
determined by the market.
