Slayers Cels 'n stuff (Sun Nov 12 22:47:42 2000 )

So I was in LA this weekend and I went to the
Kinokuniya bookstore to check their cels as I'd
gotten some good deals there in the past. I'm
looking at the cels and other than noticing their
prices had gone WAY up, I noticed a lot of the
Slayers cels, especially Gourry and Zelgadis
had really bad line fading.

I don't know if they had been exposed to serious
light in the past, but when I saw them, they were
in a cel book and I'd seen really bad lines on
Slayers cels before. I'd thought the series
wasn't that old, so does anyone have any thoughts
on the problem with the lines? I remember a
discussion a while back about yellow paints
possibly having a detrimental effect on lines
because of the pigments used, but what about Zel's
hair? Anyways, just interested to see if it's
universal with Slayers cels or what.

Second, I don't know if this has already been
discovered or not, but seeing as there are quite
a few RK fans on this board, I ran across a
couple of RK DVDs at Kinokuniya and I picked up
the first one to see what all the fuss is about.
They appear to be the TV show rather than OVA--
they're numbered like "Saga 1" and "Saga 2".
They are released by Anime Works and don't have a
booklet inside, but everything else seems to be
quality. I haven't watched it yet, tho. :) Also,
a few months ago in a Chinese video shop I ran
across some Video CDs of "Samurai X" which I
thought was rather interesting as there was a
discussion on the board at the time if RK was
going to be released here in the states as
Ruroni Kenshin or Samurai X. I guess we have the
answer! :) This was in San Francisco and they
had some other rather amusing stuff that is
maybe not appropriate to discuss here on the
board! :) Later, y'all!
