Welllll

I would never never start an auction that high no
matter what I paid for the darn thing. Isn't that
what reserves are for...? Also, think of the eBay
fees you get slapped with when you start it that
high.

As much as I hate paying $200.00 for a cel that
someone paid much less for, I have done it in the
past. I paid $350.00 for a cel I know the person
got for $50.00, but I ~really~ wanted the cel and
I was glad to have the opportunity to get it no
matter how much I had to pay for it.

Auctioning is a tricky subject. Are you or are
you not a rat for putting stuff up on eBay or
whatever to try and make money? Welll...

This has come up for me with doujinshi too. I
used to try to post doujinshi up on my site and
have people just buy it. The problem is that it's
a VERY in-demand item and the same darn people
keep getting the stuff every single time, and
then some of them were turning around and putting
it up on eBay and making tons of money on it
(this was happening with cels too -_-). SO, to
give others a chance, I just throw it up on ebay
and let people who want it duke it out. Yes, it
makes me get a lot of money for something I
didn't pay that much for (I must admit, this
really helps me out for money to spend on my cel
collection ^_^;;;) but then again I paid to fly
to Japan, went and hand-picked these things out,
and then made them available. Why should someone
else make a huge profit on it when I was the one
who went to all the trouble?

I tend to be nice about it though... if a friend
REALLY wants the item, I try to accomodate them
and we make bargin. If someone has a trade for
something I want, I cancel the auction and we do
the trade (even if if the auction is going for
tons of money). However, if a cel means a lot to
me (or I paid a lot for it) I'm not going to
undersell the cel.

The people I hate most on eBay (and who I
consider to be the rats) are the ones who are
buying stuff for the sole purpose of selling on
eBay, and so they go to Taro or something and buy
like 1000 cels and then systematically put them
up on eBay. They didn't go to Japan and try to
get stuff, they aren't selling a personal cel
from their collection, they are just messing with
the system. This makes Taro's prices go up (for
the same reason why I started auctioning my own
doujinshi, because why should someone else be
making the bucks?!) These people usually aren't
collectors :P they are in it only for the $

anyway, just my two (NON anonymous) cents.
Hopefully I don't get flames -_-#
