Well, this is what I do... (Thu Sep 21 11:32:47 2000 )

Dear Eric,

Hi, well, I store all my cels in books in separate
cel bags to prevent them from sticking to anything
other than the bag itself. Remember that once a
cel is stuck, it's stuck FOREVER but you can
always replace the bags! I also put the
backgrounds into bags as well for protection =}.
The drawings (dougas or gengas) I just put behind
the accompanying cel or background along with the
cel without any bags. If I just have the
drawing, I just put the drawing into my cel book
as well.

Now, if a cel has layers and if the layers are not
stuck, I try keep the layers separated either with
individual cel bags (so I can flip through the
layers for my amusement), or I use pieces of cel
bags behind the painted area to prevent each layer
from sticking to one another. If the layers are
stuck, I just stick the entire stuck
conglomeration into a cel bag (Hey, does this
sound familiar to all you guys I bought cels from
;)?).

Like I said above, (after someone pointed this out
to me in the forum way back when) once something
is stuck, it is stuck FOREVER, so the best thing
to do is to try and make sure they DON'T get
stuck!

As for your question on the difference in why some
cels stick and some don't, it depends on the
paint and when the cels and drawings come in
contact with each other. As most people have
discovered on this forum, red paint tends to stick
the most for some reason or other =/. White paint
usually does not stick unless someone puts
something on it when it's wet! I forgot which
other colors stick and don't stick though =/, but
the only way to make sure they don't stick to
something important (like a background or your
book) is to put something there for it to stick to
that you can replace like cel bags, rice paper,
wax paper, a plain piece of paper (make sure it's
acid free though!), mylar, etc..

Whew! Okay, I'm done. I know more people here
that have TONS more experience than me on this
subject though! I hope this helps!

Sincerely,

Sonia
