Ok, so I think I know what to do now when I have 
a cel and a background.
I'm sorry for your ruined ranma 1/2 cel. :(

I agree cel paranoia is an awful thing! :)
I am still worrying about my cels since they are 
still not in a cel bag yet! :[
 
However, I was wondering don't you worry about 
damaging the cel when you take it out to scan. I 
read in all the beginner's guide to cel 
collecting that cel paint or outline is very 
sensitive to light. 

Won't your cel get damaged by the scanner when 
you take it out to scan? Whether it is a good or 
lousy scanner...
