Dumb question #(I lost count!): To destroy matting or not to destroy matting =/? (Mon May 21 23:02:27 2001 )
Sonia Lai

Dear Forum,

Hi, again! Okay, I have another DUMB question
here, so please don't bite =}. Well, after a
recent round of cleaning, I've discovered this.
Several cels in my collection has some type of
matting on them =/, and some are even shrink
wrapped in the matting o_O! Here is my question
since I have no idea about the cost of matting =P.
I've been wondering if I should rip apart the
matting on the cels for better storage =/ or not.
Some matting, as in the case of a cheap but what
I consider great looking, production drawing I
have, the matting is glued together -_- with the
drawing sandwiched inside! It looks like the
matting and production drawing was removed from
its frame (complete with foam backing) when it
was sold to me =/. As for the others which are
shrink wrapped, I have no idea how the matting is
=/.

Since I have no idea how much matting anything
costs, I was wondering if by destroying the
matting, would I be destroying something quite
expensive to do $_$ later if I decide to do so?
The same can be said for the framed stuff I have
bought too -_- which I know can cost a bundle to
re-frame. So far, I have left the framed stuff
be unless the frame is quite easy to disassemble
and re-assemble =/.

My home is always in a clutter -_-, so I would
like to try and conserve as much space as possible
=}. I prefer to keep cels in books instead of
frames or mats, but I don't know what to do =/.

Does anyone have any suggestions for my stupid,
dumb predicament? ANY help or insight would be
appreciated. Thanks.

Sincerely,

Sonia who is somewhat thankful for the one long
matting she does have since the box it came in is
the perfect place to store extra long cels =P
