You're right the OAV series are more realistic. 
Among all that cute,I sometimes find it refreshing 
to see something closer to reality. The OAVs are 
also very serious in tone, where as TV series has 
some comedy to it.So no it's not a silly question. 
It's all your personal preference. I like them 
both for their differences.
  As for the cels, I only really want one nice 
shot of OAV Kenshin. I do find that the TV cels 
are more appealing in general.
