The companies themselves don't really make that 
much money off cels.... The prices we have on 
them here (which, as has been said before as 
absolutely ridiculous for a good number of cels) 
are put through various middlemen and then often 
auctions, so the price here is not the price the 
animation company gets. Anyway, fancels are 
illegal if you use a copyrighted image or the 
likeness of a copyrighted character. That's 
what "copyright" means. But it's kind of like 
fansubs. They are going to exist, and the company 
basically can't do anything about it without 
alienating fans who would otherwise at least buy 
goods like shitajiki and stuff. ^_^
