Hey, I'm not so expert on this either but I'll do 
my best here.  I had some problems with my 
scanner, coloring didn't seem right and wasn't 
done really properly.  My guess was that I used 
my scanner for a bit too long (about 2 years) and 
too much.  I don't know it applies to you since I 
don't know how long you used your scanner for.  
So perhaps if you used your scanner for long 
time, maybe it's time to get a new one ^^;?  

I use Adobe Photoshop for scanning for best 
results.  Just use Photoshop and select Import 
under File menu.  And from there select Twain_32 
and it should open up your scanner and you can go 
from there.

Of course this might be not the best answer.  So 
if anyone can give him better advice/suggestion, 
go ahead and give it to him!  Good luck.
