I was actually wondering the same thing. Not too 
long ago I received a cel from an older series 
and it looks fine. But if you hold up the cel in 
the light, you can make out what looks like spots 
of mold in the yellow paint used on the 
character's hair. I haven't smelled it, but would 
like to know the answer to this as well...
