I don't see why this thread should be construed... (text) (Sun Jun 24 06:12:10 2001 )

...as a flame war, or even the start of one.

The fact is, a lot of inexperienced cel collectors
may tend to focus on buying cels that they think
are a good bargain for the money, or they may just
get caught up in the thrill of a sale. (In fact,
I shouldn't say it happens to just those who are
inexperienced; it happens to everyone at some
point, right?) A lot of people got really excited
about the Taro sale and probably made some
purchases that they'll get in the mail, look at
and say, "You know, I did get a good price on this
but do I really want it that badly?" It's not
that that's a reason to flame somebody, it's just
that it's too easy to get caught up in
the thrill of the hunt and then change your mind
later. I expect that a lot of people will decide
to sell either their purchases or other cels from
their collection to help pay for their new
acquisitions.

Of course, there's the constituent of "dealers"
that only bought cels to try to get a profit by
auctioning them off on eBay. Considering the
length of time some of those cels have been
sitting on Taro's site, I think those people are
likely to be disappointed.

At any rate, I can't wait to see all the "show me"
threads for people who got something they really
wanted and were able to afford with the sale! I
couldn't get anything, though--the server was down
when I tried to log on and I had to give up and go
to work.

~Anne (who can't afford to buy anything anyway, so
it's not even an issue) T_T
