Five down, two to go... (Thu Apr 11 01:13:37 2002 )

Ever since I first started collecting, I've kept a
list of what I call the Seven Deadly Cels. *grin*
These are the unchanging fever-dreams of my cel
obsession -- the ones I hope and pray for every
time a dealer site updates or I go browsing on the
auction pages. ^_^ And I knew going into it that
some would be faaaar more difficult to find than
others. (Kopii Rezo with both bicolored eyes
open? Fairly common. REAL Rezo with his eyes
open? Less than a dozen cels in existance,
possibly as few as two.)

So far, out of the seven, I've found an
improbable, delectable total of five. ^_^
Beautiful Kopii was the first to arrive, as part
of a multi-cel trade. To my absolute shock,
though, his early-season counterpart was quick to
follow. I'd been ogling Thalia's gallery
and sighing for months over the only eyes-open
Rezo cel I've ever seen, and one day I worked up
the nerve to make an offer. She said yes, which
is to me the best argument in the world for making
offers. *grin* That cel is still the most
expensive I own, and well, WELL worth it.

The next one was a case of sheer, unadultered
luck. I happened to hit Yahoo Japan just as a
seller uploaded several Outlaw Star batches with
Buy Now prices, and landed the perfect
cyber-Harry. If I'd been five minutes later, I'm
sure he'd have been long, long gone.

The next two dream cels were acquired at auction,
only just recently. And just a warning -- here's
the part of this post where I get sappy.

The most important thing in any dream cel search,
and I mean THE MOST, is having good friends. When
Carrot in Zaha's cloak appeared on eBay, and
Hellmaster vs. Zangulus on Yahoo Japan, I was
practically inundated with emails from friends,
pointing out the auction URL and offering
good-luck wishes and hopes.

Thanks to speedy email from a certain forum
regular, I was lucky enough to be first in line on
the Hellmaster cel.

And another forum regular, who I know wanted the
Carrot cel for herself, declined to bid against me
on it because she knew how high it was on my
wishlist, thus probably saving me a bundle.

No cel collector is an island, and few dream cels
are merely an individual triumph. ^_^ Thanks to
everyone here who has helped make mine a reality!

**BIG HUGS**
