Perhaps I'm strange, but... (Thu Mar 14 13:46:34 2002 )

I can't *stand* unmatching BGs. I don't think cels
need to have backgrounds to be beautiful -- and
having a background that doesn't match actually
takes away from it's beauty, IMHO. It's like a
mismatched outfit or clashing colors.

Part of the reason I collect cels is to own part
of the production of my favorite show. If a
background that comes with a cel wasn't used to
produce that that show, then there's no reason for
me to have it. I remove it (if it's unstuck) and
sell or give it to someone who will appreciate it.
If I happen to get a unstuck background that *is*
from the show but just doesn't go with that cel,
great, I'll keep it -- but I won't use it as a
background for that cel. If an unmatching
background is stuck to the cel, I'd rather sell
the whole kit and kaboodle. It bothers me that
much.

Recently I received a cel that I thought came with
a matching BG, since the pic showed that it was
the correct color. Once I was able to see it in
person, however, without the fully-painted cel on
top, it was clear that the background was not
matching at all. I'm still debating if I want to
keep the cel. Though I know it is my fault for not
asking to make sure, I still wish sellers would
clarify these things when they describe the cel. I
know I'm not the only one who isn't willing to
take unmatching backgrounds. It makes a big
difference sometimes in how much I bid -- or even
if I bid at all. The hassle of rehousing an
unmatching background just isn't worth it
sometimes.

Oh my gosh, I'm late for work. ^_^ I apologize for
any spelling/grammar mistakes or harsh-sounding
opinions -- I didn't have time to edit for
clarity.
