WOW,
I was always of the mind that getting a signature
from someone on something they created or had a
hand in was really grand. I dont know about you
guys, but that Vash cel is a real treat. I love
signed cels, I have a couple now and I if I could
Id get them all signed!

As for devaluing the cel by getting it
signed...that just makes no sense to me. My
favorite cel is signed by the creator of the
manga....to me that should make it even more
valuable. But, I would never get something
signed for value...I dont ever plan on selling
the cels I got signed. To me, meeting the person
or persons responsible for actually bringing the
show/manga to life should be a cherished
experience. Id have them sign a napkin if I had
to.

Uhm, also...about these cels being 'works of
art'...these things are not Van Goghs.. Do you
know how animation studios work? Most of them
hire kids from college who need a job, or people
off the street to paint these cels. You should
see how Disney gets people.. It's literally
paint by number folks. Why do you think the
pencil sketches are done the way they are? And
the color key models. They have the paints pre-
mixed, and the cels are painted by people who
work all night, for minimum wage most of the
time. A lot of them are students in art school
who work for free just for the resume
experience. I've talked to people who work in 2d
animation houses, and it's an assembly line.. Do
you think you're car is a piece of art? No.

These cels -are- art, but I dont think they were
made to be collectors items of such a high level.
They were made to get the snapshot taken, then
tossed to the wind most of the time. I love my
cels to death...but...for a different reason. I
love the cels because I love the anime, the
story, the chara, etc. Fine works of art they
are not though, at least to me ::looks at small
chips on some of my cels, line fading, messy eye
jobs:: Id run into a burning ring of fire to
save my cels, but when I look at them..I dont see
the Mona Lisa. Im not trying to offend, or start
a fight here. I know some of you guys think
these cels are equal to any fine painting out
there. And that's fine. I just had to say my
part. I guess Im just really confused....I love
that Vash, singature and all, I cant understand
why someone wouldnt want a cel signed by someone
who had a hand in making the show... I dont
know, I've also heard people tell me "You're not
a real collector" for my opinions. Oh well, cest
la vie. Good luck selling the cel, Im sure
someone will want it ~_^
