Here is some generic comments about paiment methods :

- Only send cash at your own risk. If you do so, at
least sent it registered and in a way it's not possible
to see that there is money inside. But never ever use
  that method for large amount.

- Personal/bank check are much less "friendly" in
Europa than in USA. Here in Switzerland, banks
simply hate them. That's mean that to cash one
takes usualy 2 to 4 weeks and costs a fair amount
of money. (Myself, I have to pay $8 for cashing
  a check).

- US postal money order. There is two types : one
delivered by the postoffice directly. It's _very_
slow : around 6 weeks to be delivered.
The other is like a check that you have to send
to the person by mail : it's the money order for
Japan. Usualy, they can be cashed by a bank like
a normal check. But you should make sure of it
  first.

Note that for both types, the postoffice is able
to check if the money was delivered/the check
  cashed or not.

- Wire transfer : Here it's all depend of your bank.
It can be slow and expensive or very fast and
cheap. (when doing it from the computer, it costs
me 4 dollars and takes 2 days to arrive).
In all case, the bank should be able to say where
they sent the money and when.

As for postoffice, I noticed that Europa <-> USA
can takes anything between 4 days to 3 weeks.
If a packet/letter bounce back for whatever reason,
be ready to wait 1 to 2 months. (they probably wait
for one of their empolyee to go in holiday to give
him the packet...)

Cheers,
Y.S.
