It took a little less than 1 1/2 minute to load for my 56k connection on IE5.  So I suppose it's about right ^_^
The resolution is perfect on a Mac at 1024x768 too!
I think the fuzzy and blurred images have something to do with AOL (and Compuserve, as a matter of fact!)'s browsers.
My friends who are on AOL/Compuserve also see fuzzy images on my gallery -_-;
Anyway, I wouldn't change a thing, your top page looks beautiful!
