It's impossible to say if the cel was or wasn't worth
that price without seeing it. But nice Shamanic Princess
cels are hard to find and relatively expensive.

If a cel without a background (or with a laser copy) is
sold half the price of a similar cel with background, it
sound nice to me. But people may give more or less value
to having a background or not. It also depend of the
anime and background itself : a background that is just
a blue painted cardboard doesn't bring much value to a
cel even if it's the original. On the other side, some
background are very detailed and/or very artistics
qualities and have a value of their own.
