When bangs first came into style, they were a 

bit unusual in the eyes of many (in fact, the 

hairstyles in general were getting more 

"daring") I have no idea who originally coined 

the term, but supposedly it is because all of 

the sudden --BANG! -- the person's hair stops 

^_^;; (hence, "bangs") Pretty lame-oid, eh?  

But at the time I guess it was something 

people would notice...  It *is* a really wierd 

term for it when you think about it...
