Re: for Japan: DbZ is the place to be! (Tue Dec 26 00:35:50 2000 )

OK this is kinda long, I don't know whole lot, but have experience wih collectables for most of my life. I have made some good and aotta bad choices and have learned from most of my mistakes.

Yea in a way you are right, most episodes haven't been seen here in the US unless u watch international channel alot. On the other hand, we(americans) generally move in trends. I was considering sinking a grand or two in some dbz cels, but damn, in a few year(maybe 5) people won't really care about them. I am not saying they won't be worth anything, but 1 dbz cel probably won't be selling for over a $1000. Can someone please respond to this question right here, Before DBZ was shown in america, was it still growing in popularity in japan, or fading????? Alot of countries look up to americans and what they like. Once we stop caring about it, they usually do.

Trends,Thats just the way it usually works over here. Remember beanie babies, one rare one( his name was peanuts) was worth $15,000, now you can get it dirt cheap(i saw one for $100 like 1 year ago), same with pokemon cards. I got $1000 worth of them and they did not sell for $75 on ebay.

If your collecting DBZ cels to re-sell years from now, forget it, your in the wrong field. In all actuallity, if i had really nice cels and wanted to get the most for them, i would probably sell them in 6 months to a year, depending on how far it gets. Same thing in my mind will happen to mononoke hime. Sell them suckers now, no one will pay $3000 for a half way decent cel of the iron works leader broad. Akira cels are like $500 and it has far less cels in it. I honestly think most of the mononoke cels are being held onto by japanese colletors that plan to make money off the crappy ones and keep the good ones. I can't wait when the market gets flooded with them.
For now ima just hold off on the really expensive cels. Maybe just 1good cel will do it for me. I look at it in a few ways, yea it was used to make the cartoon, but damn, i could make a cel look just as good as most of them. Each cel is like what, 30 mins to an hour worth of work depending on the detail.

what it boils down to, in probably 10 years, DBZ will be long gone.

Please respond to this, iwouldlike to read what u all think about this.

Peace goodwill and all that jazz im outty boo boutty

wes
