People are hired by companies by consent, so what
exploitation? No animator *has* to work for a
studio. No programmer *has* to work for a
software company. No author *has* to write for a
news bureau.
Everyone can start their own company and license
their works. Is it hard to do? Yes, but that's
what the big names did when they were small
players. But without copyright law, odds would
continually favor large companies.
Copyright laws allow those who create the content
to specify the terms of the use, including
selling, licensing, or distribution. The fact
that most animators have chosen to sell their
artwork to the studios (by working for them) is
not exploitation, it's choice.
Copyright law says that I decide what is done
with work created solely by me. It doesn't matter
what others believe is in my interests or not -
it's not their decision to make.

Chi
