Sorry about that, Xoom is one of my pet peeves ;).
I used to belong (I think I've belonged to every
major free service provider out there, except
Tripod ^_^;;...Tali cheap! more money for cels
and other addictions!) until they did what they
promised they wouldn't do (put ads on pages) and
used a loophole in their promise to justify it.
Er, anyhoo *whistles innocently*...beyond that, I
just can't even visit Xoom pages any more. If I
have ANY other browser window open and accessing
something, I can't connect to the Xoom server.
I'm one of those people who multitasks with 7 or
more windows open, and it just drives me batty ;)
(does anybody else have this problem, or am I just
special?). I keep on coming back to geocities,
though if I stop downloading a page before the ad
window loads, netscape crashes on me. I have to
be very careful to keep my hand from automatically
doing something I'll deeply regret a few moments
later ;).

Anyway, as you can probably tell from the above
url, I did eventually bite the bullet and buy my
own domain name and space. I just couldn't find a
free one that had all I wanted (little/no ads, ftp
access, etc). It's been worth it to end the
headache *G*. $60 the first year, and I think $70
after that, including the domain name. They have
a limit on the bandwidth that makes me feel a bit
nervous, but the price was right.

I definitely wouldn't recommend creating a 'dummy
html' if you were doing video files. Oh, and if
you create straddle accounts, make sure you make
them your index.html file on the free server(s)
you choose ^_^. Most free servers don't like
'hidden' files (files that can't be gotten to from
the root), even if they're html files.

Okay, enough from me ;)
