From someone who's been buying a lot of cels
lately, I can somewhat sympathise, but at the same
time I think you're being a tad anal.
You should *always* carefully open your packages-
I've gotten some real serious "Fort Knox jobs"
lately, but patience and a small box knife will
get anything open safely. Frankly, I appreciate
the sellers that use a good deal of tape to keep
the packages airtight, watertight, and safe. I
know who you're referring to with the open box
with the cel taped in on one side, and frankly, I
think that form of packing is GREAT. I cannot tell
you how many times my box from that seller has
arrived utterly smushed, yet due to the good
"wiggle room" inside the box, the cels were fine.
I think if the box had been full of packing, the
"give" wouldn't have been there that allowed the
cels inside to avoid damage- they would have been
forced to take the blow, too.
I like Taro's way of packing quite a lot also, but
really, *where* do you *get* a goodly supply
of that cardboard, and is buying it
cost-effective? You have to remember quite a lot
of these sellers are not in it as a business per
se- it's more like an offshoot of their own
personal collecting hobby that helps support
itself- it's not like ordering from "buy.com". The
cost-effective way to go is to get the "Priority
Mail" supplies from the post office, which are
free, and the PO will deliver CASES of it to your
door for free, which is why most of your cels
come packed in variations of PM boxes. Just as one
of the sellers says in their FAQ, if you want
completely perfect, blemish-less cels, you really
don't have any business ordering from an online
seller- anything sent through the mail is a risk
taken. Make sure to have your purchase insured,
and hope for the best, that's the most you can do.
As a person that sells things now and then online
myself, I can tell you that you can't satisfy the
personal quirks of every individual customer, you
have to have a set, standardized way of doing
things which is reasonable (which I think most
seller's packing is)and is cost-effective- it's
going to please some, and disappoint others.
