Forget about the poster's personal opinions for a 
second.  There might be more to this than you 
remember and it's not all that controversial.  
Maybe if I just help lead you to the sources of 
these comments and people can decide for 
themselves.

Primarily, the poster is just pointing out 
information already supplied by other people.  At 
least the first quote that was provided is new to 
this forum, since I also saw this on the Anime 
Cels Collector Forum (which you can find here) and not here previously.  The 
original quote was supplied by 'Third Child' on 
that other forum.

Secondly, if you looked hard, there were probably 
2-3 separate occasions when this topic was 
discussed (not just one), and maybe you just 
remember reading and responding to the first one.

Thread #1: A very opinionated post that was 
probably not too well thought out and very 
emotional.  It got about 24 replies with various 
reactions.  This is probably the one you remember.

thread about Animate and 'ryvius', trying to 
defend him.  There were 8 replies to this

CONCLUSION: The poster of this present thread 
probably saw that there were 2 accounts which 
indicate that there might be something to 
legitimately worry about.  The poster then 
decided to bring people's attention to these 2 
accounts and simply wanted to caution people.

Most of the responses I read about 'ryvius' has 
been positive, although just as many people would 
have preferred to get the same cels for cheaper 
at Animate IF THEY COULD.  The 2 quotes mentioned 
in this thread indicate that 'rvyius' MIGHT (I'm 
not taking sides) have been guilty of shilling 
his own auctions in the past, but that doesn't 
seem to be the case any more (whether or not it 
was because he was busted 1-2 times in the past).

Aw, heck, I've been nosing around this way too 
long.  Each person should just look at the 
information and form their own opinions.  Unless 
there are any new horror stories cropping up, I 
doubt that this topic will rear its ugly head 
again.
