I'll still use (i.e. manipulate) eBay. (Mon Apr 23 07:19:30 2001 )

Until I find a better alternative, I will stick to
eBay, especially since the 'cel market' on Yahoo
is now non-existant. (Even last year, there were
only about two sellers who put up over 90% of the
anime cels; I have bought a total of 5 cels from
these Yahoo dealers.)

I don't like all the eBay rules, but I would
rather manipulate the system rather than fight it.

Creative phrasing is the key to any (even
remotely) questionable content. Sure, "nude" will
catch people's attention, but it was questionable
judgement on your part to use that word. "Nude"
will also attract the wrong kind of attention and
come to eBay's attention. I would just get the
listing fees back and try again but with a
different title like "Humorous Onsen Scene", "Fun
at the Bath", etc. . .

As for linking, eBay just tried to find every
violation possible while looking at your auction.
Sure, almost everybody links (even the so-called
Power Sellers), but not everybody tells people to
visit their site IN ORDER TO PURCHASE items. The
latter part in particular is what ticks off eBay
(for obvious reasons). You can see
animegame.com's listings as an example, and I've
never seen their auctions get yanked. Yeah, the
site logo is huge, but he doesn't tell people to
buy cels at the web site.

Some people just circumvent this by creating a "My
eBay" page where you can paste your site url all
over it, and then tell people to visit their "My
eBay" page.

Of course, this may seem like too much work and
will do nothing to curb your anger, but you also
have the luxury of owning a commercial site to
sell items; you could always sell the cel(s) in
question on your site. Most of us do not have the
luxury of owning a commercial website (that gets a
fair number of visitors), so eBay is the best
outlet to reach the maximum number of people.

Yahoo may not be a viable alternative. Last year,
there were more and more cels being put on Yahoo,
and it had lots of promise. Then suddenly, the
cel market just disappeared from yahoo auctions.
The few people who do put up Yahoo auctions
nowadays (like oion) almost always put those same
cel auctions up on eBay a week later. It's
definitely bleak now. A simple search for 'cel'
brings up 1 highly questionable pokemon cel and 2
Tenshi cels amidst the american production cels.

Oh well, gotta prepare html for an auction I need
to throw up tommorrow night. Later, and I hope
you're enjoying that Tenchi movie cel I sold you.
