Hi Maribel,

Just wanted to add my two cents. First, it's not
a series but a movie and so right off you are
limited in the number of cels that you have to
work with.

Secondly, as was mentioned, Totoro and other
Ghibli films are wildly popular in Japan and in
other countries so you've got a =much= larger
audience than other anime series/movies.

Lastly, the art is simply amazing. Even if you
don't like the way the characters look or the
story, the quality of the cel is very high. My
smallest Kiki and Nausciaa cels are much nicer in
terms of line and color than any of my nicest
larger (and often more expensive) cels of other
series.

But it all boils down to demand. I love Ghibli
films. They are very touching -- I'm not ashamed
to admit I cry every time I watch Omoide
Poroporo. I consider their films to be animated
works of high art rather than the other things I
collect.

But not all Ghibli films like Totoro are
expensive. It's just that cels of the totoros and
the catbus will fetch a lot because they are so
rare.

Wendy
