It really all depends. :o)

I swore off bootlegs after I got the "X 1999"
movie. (I own three: FoR, CB, and X1999) X 1999
was the lousiest 'translation' I had ever seen,
and I wasn't 15 minutes into the movie until I
felt like giving up trying to make any attempt at
translating their English into English.

I'm currently in the process of replacing my
fansub collection with stuff that's been licensed
since I acquired the fansubs--- and that's
definitely going to include the CB, which I now
see not to be saving myself $150, but a waste of
$30. It's slow going, especially since cels keep
taking up enormous chunks of fun money. *g* The
copies of YYH that I've seen were nth generation
fansubs, and I'm willing to shell out for a copy
that actually has crisp lines. :o) I don't know
if Funimation is going to 'destroy' the
translation or not (on the subtitled side of
things), but I can guarantee you that the
bootlegger has destroyed it fifty times over. I
have the first two volumes on pre-order and look
forward to getting them in.

Viz has bought the rights to InuYasha, and it's
getting released this summer. As such, no
fansubber should still be selling the title. Why
not wait a few months, support a show you love,
and buy a legit copy? After all, if you're
collecting cels... the price of a DVD shouldn't
make you flinch.
