When you have a high priced auction going on, it's usually best to request that a person get in touch with you 
if they plan to bid, or else you'll remove their bid.  This normally will deterr the usual flakey jackass.  
I e-mail people just to see if their e-mails work, and if I get a bounced message, I'll drop the bid as well.  
Normally, if you can get a good conversation going with your buyer, you can secure a good transaction.
