Re: Is there a way to tell a genga from a douga??? (Fri Jun 11 14:13:54 1999 )

is your sketch a line for line match to the cel/scene?
If so, its probably douga.
(unless its on different coloured paper in which case it could be
the sakuga kantoku drawing)

If its not exactly the same as the cel,
(and looks slightly rougher, yet is noticeably the
same scene) then it is probably genga.
Genga also comes on different coloured paper sometimes.

I am being really general... you may want to show the pic
to long time collectors/dealers and ask them what they think.
I would hate for you to take what I say and make a mistake :)

If you are in the middle of a deal with a cel dealer, then I suggest
not showing the pics here (as a courtesy to them), but emailing
someone knowledgeable privately and asking.

Good luck!
