Yes, I myself quite often put in a small bid at first to
monitor the auction. I ~used~ to put in my max bid and leave
it at that, but then I had people who would put in teeny little bids over and over and over again. I sat there one day
when I bid on a cel and watched one person increase it by
2-5.00 and they bid like 10 times in as many minutes. After
that experience, I just decided to put a small bid first so
I don't have someone bid 19 times against me. =P And that is
honestly not MUCH of an exaggeration.
Live and learn. And learn to bid at the last possible moment.
