This is not a "cheap" hobby. If you want a "cheap" hobby, go into paperclip collecting. (*tongue in cheek grin*) The only way to get good deals on cels is to know people and to be in the right place at the right time. Another thing you can do is to avoid buying cels on Ebay - pretty much they are all more expensive than equivalent quality cels from an online dealer. Also, some dealers are more expensive than others (dependant on the series you're talking about), so shopping around a bit can help you pick an online dealer with prices you like. As for selling cels from your collection, there are many private collectors who do just that - sell older cels so that they have the money to bring in new ones. But if you're planning to eventually resell something, you have to make sure it's something other people are interested in too. A cel that is cheap is cheap for a reason - either people aren't interested in it, it's a bad shot, or it doesn't come from a popular series, etc - and you can't expect to get much money from it. One thing that I haven't seen that you could try, if you were so inclined and talented enough, would be to find damaged cels (which should be fairly cheap) and resell them after you've restored them. People would probably be interested in that, especially if you manage to restore cels of popular characters that are expensive to buy in perfect condition. But restoration work also takes time, talent and investment in cel vinyl paints - still not "cheap", although you might be able to make some money on it if you're good. Many Sharp Smiles, --Drac |
