    I understand how it feels to be disheartened about cel 
collecting.  Sometimes it just seems impossible to get the 
cels that you like, time after time.  Bad luck can just 
keep adding up.  
    But let time pass, and you will come across some good 
cels.  You may not be as active online anymore (which I 
think is a good thing), but you will still enjoy collecting 
cels.  I think one of the dangers of cel collecting is 
spending too much time online-- checking dealers' webpages 
for updates.
    If you ask me, one of the fun things about cel collecting 
is meeting people and talking/e-mailing to them.  Visiting 
cel collectors at a convention is a fun thing.  
    It is also very helpful to talk to dealers, and let them 
know what you are interested in.  Some dealers will go out 
of their way and let you know about cels that they have for 
sale before they post it up, thereby allowing the "slower" 
people to get some nice cels too.  
    Another option-- try to collect cels from less popular 
anime shows.  Although this never seems to work-- there's 
nearly always someone else collecting the same series as 
you.
    I hope that helps a bit--  good luck in your collecting.  
Also, watch lots of anime--- the more anime you watch, the 
more stuff you will like, and hence, the more cels you will 
like.  Thus, your chances of finding cels that you like will
increase ^_^.
