Re: Here's a thought (Mon Dec 13 09:40:37 1999 )

honestly, maybe it is just me, but I think Anime Taro's price is sometimes outrageously low, usually within 5 minutes of their update, the good cels are gone, there are many cels I missed, I would more than gladly pay 2~3 times of what their are asking, not to mention.

I normally go to Japan once every 3 month, everytime I go the price of cels go up, some of the dealers on this forum, actually are selling cels cheaper than stores like Anime World Star, (which is the most expensive place to buy cels in Japan, I noticed a lot of cels they have are actually bought from other anime cel stores in Japan, they then sell at double of the price they paid for)

come on, give the cel dealers on this forum some respect, I don't think dealers are greedy at all, there are many other jobs out there, that make far..... more money than dealing cels, especially in the hi tech area, if a cel dealer purchase 200 cels in Japan at $10 each, they then sell at $30 each (that is if anyone actually buy cels at their asking price), that is "only" $6000, not counting cost, it will take at least 1~2 month the sell 200 cels for most dealers.

the average cost for 1 trip to Japan per person (7 days) is $1238 ~$1500 (very modest estimate)

$550 for the flight ticket, cheap hotel ($63 per night X 6 nights), (food and drinks $30~$50 per day X7), (transportation $100).

now you add $1238 cost of trip $2000 cost of cels= $3238

most dealers spend far more than $2000 on cels, I myself normally spend $5000 per trip.

$6000-$3238= $2762 of profit (man, how can anyone survive with of $2762 profit per trip, think about it, the amount of trouble a dealer have to go through, is simply unbelievable)
