I have heard from a very good source, though not personally confirmed, that the UV treated glass has a grey tint to it when you look at it on edge. Normal glass kinda looks greenish, but the archive/museum/UV glass is greying.

Note, this is only the case for the truly UV treated glass and not for any type of spray on UV protectant and UV protectint film that is applied to the top of the glass.

Two other thought on glass... 1. if the frame drops and the glass breaks it can really slice up a cel. 2. UV protecting glass protects againts about 95% of UV, but plain old plexiglass block something closer to 98% or 99% of UV, and it does not create those nasty cel shreading shards. If you go for plexi make sure you get it from a good frame shope, they will give you a thicker piece that will not bow or warp like the thin stuff you get in the chain places. From a few feet it is hard to tell the difference between glass and a similar quality and thickness piece of plexi.

Hope this helps...
