What everyone is forgetting to mention is that you should check
cels.org keeptrack at LEAST once an hour. It helps if you sit on the
computer all day anyway. ^_^
Generally the best cels are gone within 15 minutes of being posted
(or so has been my observation), but particularly popular cels like
Achika, Shampoo and Ukyo are often gone within 5 minutes. Shampoo as a
cat is /always/ gone when I have tried to request, no matter how early
I seem to get there.
It also helps to get a feel for what time of day and which days certain
cel dealers are likely to update. Yann, for instance, often does large updates
over the weekend. Which has more than once kept me inside and on the computer rather
than going out. ^_^ Anime Taro often updates late at night or early in the morning (our time).
Vega often updates in sort of late-morning hours. Usagi in early-morning hours.
Anime Chaos is particularly nice because he lets you know ahead of time that he's updating!
And of course, there's the dealer who shall remain nameless which shall always have my
devotion because they use a lottery system rather than a first-come system.
Even being one of those who has online access during work hours and so gets to check frequently
all day, I'd a hundred times rather feel that I had an equal chance as everyone else who wants the
cel of getting a cel I wanted than get it just because I was the first.
The problem with that, IMHO, is that people will often apply for cels they only sort-of want
because they know they won't get everything they ask for. If only there were a 'biased lottery' system
where everyone who orders has 10 'marks', which can be distributed among the cels they want, or all of them
put toward cels they /really/ wanted to sway the lottery in their favor. I don't like auctions, but it often
feels more fair than 'first come' because at least everyone has a chance. Unfortunately in the case of Neko-Shampoo,
I'm never quite fast enough or quite rich enough. *sigh*
Okay, enough of my rambling.
Ryochan

p.s. Does anyone think it's weird that my two most sought after cels are a cabbit in human form and a human in cat form?
