I don't think it's illegal to sell fanart for a profit. Perhaps
you are thinking of fanSUBS. I haven't seen a single person on
ebay selling fancels who didn't make it PERFECTLY clear that they
were reproductions, or fanart and not original. As long as they
aren't trying to pass it off as real it's not illegal...actually...
counterfeiting a cel might not even by illegal either. As far
as the integretity of selling your own artwork, what the hell
is so wrong with that? People sell things that they make all the
time, that's what an artist DOES. I personally wouldn't pay for
most of the fancels out there, because a lot of those people
overestimate their talents, but some of those are really nice. I
know Jaana does fancels (I don't know if she's sold them on ebay or
not) and they are really good! I know it's hard to find some of
the characters or scenes that people do fancels of too, so I would
probably pay five bucks for a fancel of, say... Nuriko and Hotohori.
I'd rather have a repro of a scene I really want and probably can't
find than never finding it. Besides, it would be interesting to own
several people's renditions of a certain character.

Doesn't know what people on this forum have against free expression...
or maybe they think if you would buy a fancel then you don't care
about owning real cels, or don't know the joy of owning a real cel...
