Kenshinlvr,

I feel so awful that your parents acted that way.
I can totally relate on the note that some people just
don't understand this hobby. (or loving anime in general)
There is NOTHING wrong with loving anime!
(just as there is nothing wrong with spending hundreds of
dollars on baseball cards or things like that)
I got into a HUGE argument with my ex-bf over this.
He just couldn't understand how a grown person
could get so "obsessed" (as he put it) with cartoons.
I even tried to explain it to him to no avail.
He even called me "immature" because of it.

I felt pretty bad that he said that, but I thought about it.
He was just as bad. Buying cels was crazy, but he could totally justify spending a grand on season tix to the
Bruins game. o_O

Ok, my point. ^_~

There are going to be people who are going to "look down"
on anime. I have met PLENTY of them. Luckily my
parents have turned a blind eye on it. (my dad, however,
will NEVER know what I spent since he would NOT take it well!)
I have learned there are people you can share this hobby with
and people you can't.
It must be especially hard for you since you live at home.
The PO BOX idea sounds good. You could also
consider maybe asking friends/relatives who understand
if they will let you forward your packages to their house.

Don't take what your parents say too personally. You can be
a great cop someday if you have the passion for it. (and
you obviously do) Anime has nothing to do with it.

I wish you the best! ^_^
