My bad for being unclear.  Instead of "major 
feature" I should have said "feature film seen by 
more than 12 people".  That way you would have 
known that I was skipping The Great Mouse 
Detective.  ;-)

Way back then, Disney was really playing up the 
fact that a renaissance happened in their 
animation department starting with LM.  So you 
didn't hear much PR about the prior films.  I 
specifically remember that when they discussed CG, 
they spoke a lot more about LM than GMD.  But 
maybe that also had to do with the fact that LM 
incorporated more elaborate shots that were NOT 
mechanical in nature...... I dunno for sure.
