Example 3: Ordering 26000 yen of stuff (Fri Mar 23 23:12:03 2001 )
Sonia Lai

Dear TK,

Here's an example of a higher purchase:

Purchasing directly through Anime World Star

Cel cost 26000 yen
Shipping 2000 yen
20% of the ENTIRE total 5600 yen
--------------------------------------------------

Total cost 33600 yen

Purchasing through a deputy service

Cel cost 26000 yen
Bank fee 400 yen
Shipping from AWS to deputy service 800 yen
Shipping from deputy service to you 2000 yen
Commission of the deputy service 3000 yen
--------------------------------------------------

Total cost 32200 yen

so in this instance, you will save 1400 yen if you
go through the deputy service!

Okay, I admit for higher purchases, it probably
would be cheaper to go through the deputy service!
Although I also realized I forgot to take into
account international postal money order fees,
shipping via global priority mail to the deputy
service, JAPANESE SALES TAX (which I have NO idea
what it is which will be added if you go through
a deputy service). PLUS, higher costing packages
MIGHT cost more for shipping even within Japan
and to the U.S. =P!

Sigh, does anyone else care to try and chart this
out WITH the other fees added in (In this instance
if you send the deputy service an international
postal money order (and with my other examples
above), add another $8.25 to the deputy service
column!)? Like I said, I have NO IDEA how much
Japanese sales tax costs, but I figure that would
be added if you purchase stuff in Japan.

Wait, I think I have a percentage here somewhere
=/. I think it's a 5% sales tax in Japan =/. Man
this calculation is tougher than I though =P. Let
me try again.

Sincerely,

Sonia

P.S. Sorry for the pollution of the board, Yann!
