Re: ethical question - is it ok to modify cel scans for the website? (and my first Totoro cel!) (Wed Oct 10 09:49:35 2001 )

Very nice cel.

As for modifying the cel images, IMHO, do what
you want with the image. It's your gallery. You
decide how you want to display your collection.

The only problem I could ever see with modifying
the image, is if you ever decide to sell the any
of the cels with modified images. This is
because of obvious reasons, as I am sure you are
well aware of.

As for myself, a good share of my cels have had
some sort of clean up work done to them, as my
scanner quite often, browns the outside edge of
the cel. Also for some reason, I am a firm
believer, with my cels, not to remove stuck
sketches, as to prevent from damaging the cel in
the process. I know there are several ways not
to damage the cel, but, it's not worth it to me.
So I remove the sketch in my scans to make the
cel less cluttered, and more distinct. Case in
point, my new Sarah cel. All those sketch lines
made the cel to "busy".
